Gujarat Municipal Finance Board

 

  • Gujarat Municipal Finance Board is established under the Gujarat Municipal Finance Board Act, 1979.
  • A Chairman to be appointed by the State Government.
  • Three members to be appointed by the State Government having knowledge of the municipal finances or municipal administration.
  • Three members to be appointed by the State Government by virtue of their office from amongst the officers of the State Government.
  • One member to be appointed by the State Government by virtue of his office or otherwise from amongst the officers of the State Government. He is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Board.
  • Term of office of the Chairman and members, other than those appointed by virtue of their office, is maximum five years from their date of appointment.
  • Meeting of Board is held every three months as provided in the regulation framed under the Act. Board has powers to constitute committee (s) from amongst its members to discharge of its duties and functions delegated to such committee (s). Secretary to the board is appointed by the State Government.
  • Board has powers to appoint officer and servants for the efficient performance of its duties and functions.
  • To provide grants and loans for basic and infrastructure facilities through various development schemes for ULBs (various 38 schemes on hand).
