TOWN PLANNING & VALUATION DEPARTMENT

The main aim of the department is to secure well-balanced and planned development of the major urban centers of the State as well as small and medium towns. The department is the main technical wing of the State Government for urban planning. The Town Planning and Valuation Department works under the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department of Government of Gujarat with Chief Town Planner as head of the Department and having its jurisdiction covering whole of the Gujarat State. Its main functions include -

 

Organisation Structure of Town Planning Department


Town Planning Department
  • Advocate and Promote Planning Activities in the State.
  • Supervision and Monitoring of the Regional as well as Branch offices of the department.
  • Technical support to Appropriate Authorities in preparation of Development Plans and TP Schemes.
  • Advise to the State Government on technical and legal matters.
  • Advise on the valuation of land, where Government interest is involved.
  • To evolve Urban and Regional standards and guidelines.
  • Provide guidance for implementation of urban development programmes.

Functionality & Duties

Two major functions of the department are -

  • Town Planning
  • Valuation

Other functions of department -

  • Preparation of draft development plan
  • Preparation of draft TPS & finalization
  • Evaluation of Government lands
  • Assessment of Government buildings in municipality limit
  • UDP-1 scheme for the implementation of DP and TPS
  • Integrated development of small and medium towns of the state, the centrally sponsored scheme (IDSMT)
  • Constitutional and Procedural Guidance in UDA/ADA planning Committee
  • Research and Development for planning

Office of the chief town planner -

  • Preparation of draft development plan
  • Preparation of draft TPS & finalization
  • Evaluation of Government lands
  • Assessment of Government buildings in municipality limit
  • UDP-1 scheme for the implementation of DP and TPS
  • Integrated development of small and medium towns of the state, the centrally sponsored scheme (IDSMT)
  • Constitutional and Procedural Guidance in UDA/ADA planning Committee
  • Research and Development for planning

Office of the senior town planner at regional level -

  • As a head of region total rights and responsibility
  • Co-ordinate to every branches and offices of town planning scheme of the region and manage to give best output from that and report to the chief town planner
  • Advise and guide to the local authorities
  • Give consultation to town planning schemes , development plans and valuation etc.

Branch Office -

  • As a head of office total rights and responsibility
  • Preparation of draft development plan
  • Evaluation of Government lands
  • Give Consultation and advise to the local authorities for town planning schemes , development plans and development permissions
  • UDP-1 scheme for the implementation of DP and TPS
  • Integrated development of small and medium towns of the state, the centrally sponsored scheme (IDSMT)
  • In case of non-agriculture, give a opinion of lay-out plan etc.

Office of the town planning scheme -

  • As a head of office total rights and responsibility
  • To prepare preliminary and final scheme under the provisions of Town Planning and Urban Development Act 1976 and rules 1979
  • Give Consultation and advice to the local authorities for town planning schemes and development permissions etc.
